Thanks to the leadership of Alder, Ledell Zellers, all of the street signs in the Mansion Hill Historic District have been changed to ones that announce the Historic District along with a picture of 28 East Gilman. After consulting with many neighbors, we decided that Gene Devitt’s house, 28 East Gilman, was the one most people closely identified with the Mansion Hill Historic District and its history. Many people know about the Mansion Hill Historic District and are interested in it, but few can actually define its boundaries. The erection of the new street signs will help people better understand not just the perimeters of the Historic District, but are a necessary component in having them be able to judge the value and progress of the Historic District as property after property is restored and improved.
